North West youth road race league round 1

 Sunday the 1st of March saw round 1 of the north west youth road race league take place in Crolly in Donegal

hosted by Errigal cycling club and representing Carn Wheelers was Cathir Doyle and Sarah Elder.

It was a tough day for racing with fierce cross and head winds on a very exposed circuit but it did not deter the large number of young riders who made the journey to Donegal for what should be a very good series of races over the coming season. The result of the day for Carn Wheelers was a superb 2nd place for Cathir Doyle who rode a superb race always active at the front of the race and making sure he was well positioned for anything that was happening, as the race came to a close a select group of riders were involved in a sprint for the line with Cathir  just being pipped for the win but securing a superb 2nd place finish  .Sarah Elder was riding  in the under 12 race and when racing commenced Sarah was involved in what was to prove to be the decisive break of 5 riders in the race and in the closing stages finished 5th overall and 2nd girl in the opening round a great result for Sarah on the day .

After the racing everyone was treated to soup and sandwhiches by he host club followed by the prize Giving many thanks to Errigal for a great event and well done to both riders .
