Young takes win at Mid Ulster GP

28 Apr 2014
Carn Wheelers success at races continued at the weekend with a win at the Mid Ulster GP.  The day started with the youth racing, the under 12 race saw the Elder sisters Sara and Emma take to the corse, in a tough race the girls finished 5th and 6th respectively.  Up next was the under 16's in which Marc Heaney put in another great performance and showing the seniors how to sprint came home in second place.  In the A4 race Rodney Young sprinted clear of the bunch to cross the line taking the chequered flag after unleashing a devastating sprint that could not be matched, Rodney now moves up to A3.  In the A1-A3 race Ali Gribbon finished with a well deserved 2nd place after a two man breakaway from the peleton stayed away until the line ahead of the bunch sprint.  In the ladies race Mairead McGurk narrowly missed out on a podium place finishing 4th in another highly competitive race, this after taking 7th in the Lakeland GP the day before makes her finish all the more impressive.
